Dr. Jody-Lynn Rebek
BRIDGE Lab Supervisor & Associate Professor
Dr. Rebek is an Associate Professor at Algoma University's School of Business and Economics and a dynamic social entrepreneur, having co-founded initiatives like Hearterra and Waterwise. With over a decade leading Vive Strategy Consulting, she's a passionate transdisciplinary researcher, leveraging both qualitative and quantitative methods in her community-based action research. Her work delves into diverse subjects, including cross-cultural understanding, decolonizing education, sustainable management, and transformative leadership, all aimed at fostering well-being, inclusivity, and motivation.
Dr. Teryn Bruni
BRIDGE Lab Supervisor & Paediatric Psychologist
Dr. Bruni is a Paediatric Psychologist with expertise in integrated care, school psychology, and applied behaviour analysis. Her research interests include evaluating the effectiveness of single-session mental health interventions, the use of professional task-shifting to increase access to mental health support, and the promotion of psychological flexibility in youth. She is focused on establishing a program of research that is responsive to the needs of the community and aligns with ongoing mental health initiatives. Dr. Bruni is a licensed Psychologist in the state of Michigan and is currently in the process of pursuing her registration in Ontario.
Taylor Barker
BRIDGE Lab Operations Coordinator
Taylor is a 2024 graduate of the psychology program at Algoma University. He now works for the BRIDGE Lab as their Operations Coordinator. While conducting research in his undergraduate degree, his main areas of interest surrounded social psychology constructs such as social conformity, congruence, and interdependence. Taylor’s role in the lab requires him to manage and oversee daily operations of the lab including facilitating members and meetings, leading various service projects, teaching project management and statistics software, as well as contributing to the GLocal research project.
Enid Wyper-Haig
BRIDGE Lab Marketing and Communications Director
Enid graduated from Algoma's psychology program in 2023, and is now working for BRIDGE Lab as their Marketing and Communications Director. While conducting research in her undergraduate degree, her main areas of interest surrounded psychopathology and forensics, specifically in relation to gender based, and sexual violence. After graduation, Enid went on to present her research findings at the Society for Police and Criminal Psychology, and is now pursuing graduate studies at the University of Guelph-Humber, in Creative Writing. Enid's main research interests within BRIDGE surround GLocal; an international research project with the hopes of achieving change towards regenerative sustainability.
Victoria Mackay-Coutu
Bridge Lab Project Lead for Innovative Learning
Victoria is a 2024 graduate of the BBA program at Algoma University and a founding member of the BRIDGE lab. After graduating, she returned to the university as a Project Coordinator for Innovative Learning with the Faculty of Business and Economics. In this role, she focuses on the service and entrepreneurship sector of BRIDGE and is excited to expand the lab’s activities to include internships and community service projects. Although business was her area of study, she is deeply passionate about the connection between business and ecology, and is committed to promoting sustainability in our business practices.
Timotheus van Weerden
BRIDGE Lab Research Assistant
Tim graduated at Algoma University in June 2024 with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a specialization in HR as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. He is currently pursuing his MBA at Carleton University. His goals in life are to make meaningful change within the community and to help optimize workforces.
Amber Mckay
Indigenous Liaison & Special Projects Analyst
Amber has recently graduated from the Business of Administration Bachelor’s Degree program at Algoma University with honors and a specialization in Human Resources. She was hired at Algoma University to work on two different projects that she is deeply passionate and fully committed to. In her position as an Indigenous Liaison & Special Projects Analyst, she will be working along the Bridge Lab on the freshwater project at Algoma University to strengthen intersectoral relationships between First Nations, educators, scientists, climate action groups, etc. Her role requires a deep understanding of Indigenous cultures and an ability to foster meaningful dialogue and collaboration across various departments and communities. She hopes to gain valuable insights from collaborators involved in both projects, with a particular focus on the freshwater project and is eager to make a positive impact in her role and contribute to meaningful change.
